SIMS Harbour Hike 2014
Keeping A Healthy Work Life-Balance
The Sydney Institute for Marine Science 4th annual harbour hike was held on the first Sunday in September. This is the second time I have participated and it is a terrific 12km walk from the start line at Bradfield Plaza under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Clifton Gardens Reserve, Mosman.
The thousands of walkers of all ages followed harbour side streets through Kirribilli and Neutral Bay, around Cremorne Point and along harbour foreshore paths through stunning bushland near Taronga Zoo into the Sydney Harbour National Park at Bradleys Head before reaching the destination at Chowder Bay.
Scientists and volunteers were on hand at Clifton Gardens Reserve to explain the exhibits and the work SIMS is doing with their Sydney Harbour Research Program.
This was a most enjoyable walk through some of the loveliest parts of the harbour foreshore. But I must say, the ferry trip back to Kirribilli was a welcome change of pace for my tired legs!
